LATEST NEWS

8 April 2024 – Our members Chris and Claire led a successful workshop in April. Claire shared her knowledge of colour theory and Chris guided the participants on blending fibres on a blending board and two ways of removing fibres ready for spinning. See the gallery page for photos.

14 March 2024 – Welcome to Weaving Wednesdays! We now have a dedicated weaving session on the first Wednesday of each month at 12.30 pm – 4.00 pm in one of the ground floor meeting rooms, to facilitate access for looms. Whether you are a new weaver or experienced there will be something for you to learn or contribute! We start with a Q and A session, share weaving tips and techniques and investigate subjects in greater depth. Most of all we have fun weaving. All types of loom are welcome!

8 March 2024 – Dunja would like to thank all who attended the recent Sami band weaving workshop, despite the snowy weather. Everyone ‘picked up’ a new weaving technique and produced some lovely bands. It’s such a portable method of weaving and one that we can easily take out and about to events the Guild attends.

1 March 2024 – We extend a warm welcome to our newest Guild members and we hope that you will enjoy taking part in our weekly meetings, Weaving Wednesdays, monthly workshops and outside events such as our “Barry Beach Huts” outing in July. We also have an extensive library that you can loan books from as well as weaving and spinning equipment you can loan for a few weeks.

30 March 2023The committee are delighted to announce that a new home has been found for Guild meetings. Every Tuesday meeting from now on, and every Saturday meeting from 29 April will be held at Panteg House, Griffithstown, Pontypool, NP4 5BE. The Guild is immensely grateful to Claire, James and all at Christchurch for supporting us until a longer term solution could be found.

26 November 2022 On Saturday 26th November 2022, the Guild left Greenmeadow Community Farm. This was a sad day as the farm has been our home for many years. It is still hoped that there may be room for us to return when the refurbishment at the farm is complete. Until then we have been very lucky to be able to make arrangements to meet at Christchurch in Malpas Road Newport. Non members may contact the secretary for more information. Members please see the members pages.

22 October 2021In readiness for the AGM on 6th November, job descriptions for all the key roles within the Guild are now available to download in the members area
